A Breath for Life

Dr John Copland, founder and trainer of "Advanced Airway Course (Beyond BASIC)" as well as renowned Anaesthetist from Frankston Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, joined Dr Amit Kansal, Dr Shekhar Dhanvijay and Dr Monika Gulati, Senior Consultants from Intensive Care Medicine, and Dr Glenn Tan, Senior Consultant from Anaesthesia on a 2-day workshop on “Advance Airway Course – Beyond BASIC (Basic Assessment & Support in Intensive Care)”. Held from 15 to 16 May 2023, the workshop involved a sharing session of valuable airway skills and knowledge for senior trainees and consultants from specialities that deal with emergency airways.

Under the guidance of Dr John Copland and Dr Shekhar Dhanvijay, the participants had a full hands-on experience in managing difficult airways using various techniques.

Skills Station:

Planning and Preparation for Airways

Guided by Dr Amit Kansal, participants learned how to plan and prepare well for airway emergencies that needed intubation. Intubation is a clinical procedure that helps to restore or aid breathing via the use of an endotracheal tube.

The Advanced Airway Course was a success!

20 local and overseas healthcare practitioners from various disciplines and institutions such as National University Health System (NUHS), SingHealth, and National Healthcare Group (NHG), learnt about airway management through various interactive sessions at the 2-day Advance Airway Course.
