On 22 November 2024, the Quality, Innovation, and Improvement (QII) department marked a major milestone with the soft launch of its inaugural AI course, AI for Everyone*, tailored for staff at JHC. This pioneering four-hour training session is part of our ongoing efforts to seamlessly integrate advanced AI solutions into everyday healthcare operations.

The course offered a rich curriculum designed to demystify AI and its applications in healthcare. Key highlights included:

  1. AI Fundamentals and Applications: Participants were introduced to the basics of AI and its practical use in healthcare settings.

  2. Hands-On Training with Bot-NUHS AI Platform: Staff learned how to navigate the platform, exploring its features and capabilities.

  3. Advanced Skills in Prompt Engineering: Attendees were equipped with techniques to craft effective queries, optimising their interactions with AI systems.

  4. Exploration of Advanced Tools: The session covered Bot AI’s Corporate Quality Assurance and Feedback Analyser, enhancing workflow efficiency through practical applications.

  5. Broader AI Tools Introduction: Complementary tools such as RUSSELL GPT and Tandem were also introduced, broadening participants’ understanding of available AI resources.

Participants left the session with actionable insights and new skills to improve productivity at work, including:

  • Streamlined Administrative Tasks: Learning how AI can reduce workloads and boost efficiency.

  • Improved Access to Corporate Information: Gaining the ability to quickly access and utilise critical organisational knowledge.

  • Enhanced Decision-Making: Using AI tools to support data-driven choices and optimise workflows.

A key focus of the training was on the responsible use of AI, ensuring that staff understand the importance of ethical considerations and the need to verify AI-generated outputs. This emphasis on accountability empowers staff to confidently incorporate AI into their practice while maintaining high standards of care.

By embracing AI technology and empowering our staff with these new skills, NUHS continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare. This training represents a significant step forward in our journey to harness the full potential of AI in improving patient care and operational efficiency across our institutions.
