Infection Control Excellence with JHC and APSIC

As part of the 13th APSIC Training Course in Infection Control, 26 delegates from community hospitals, polyclinics, private institutions, NCID, and overseas hospitals visited JHC on a learning tour that highlighted our innovations in infection control.

The visit kicked off at Tower B's main lobby, where delegates received a brief introduction to NTFGH's integrated hospital structure. The group then proceeded to the Isolation Ward, gaining insights into how infectious cases are effectively contained.

To ensure a more interactive experience, delegates were split into smaller groups to explore key departments:

  • At the CSSD, participants observed the full reprocessing workflow for medical instruments—from decontamination to storage. Our use of hydrogen peroxide sterilisation for medical devices was a notable highlight.

  • In the Microbiology Lab, our microbiologists shared how various tests are conducted and how alerts are raised for infection trends, ensuring swift response from the Infection Prevention team.

  • The Endoscopy Department showcased scope reprocessing protocols, the use of a new drying cabinet, and the critical separation of clean and used equipment.
