Arts&Health Festival 2024:
Celebrating Creativity & Healing
The Arts&Health Festival 2024 officially commenced on 16 September, exploring the theme "Facets of Being"—a deep dive into how art reflects and shapes our understanding of health and well-being.
This year’s festival carries a special significance as we celebrate the 15th anniversary of JurongHealth Campus. A series of crane-themed exhibitions were featured around various parts of our hospitals, focusing on the themes of longevity, hope, and healing.
From 16 to 20 September, over 70 artworks were co-created by local artists, patients, caregivers, staff, and community partners! Exhibitions like "Flourishing Cranes," "Wings of Hope," and the innovative "The Sound of Portraits" (which merges AI and storytelling to honor dementia patients) are just some of the highlights!
An outstanding exhibition, The Sound of Portraits, merges oral storytelling with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to capture and honour the memories of patients with dementia. Read more about it on the Lianhe Zaobao article.
Special shoutout to all the amazing collaborators, including Bukit Batok East Community Arts & Culture Club, Rulang Primary School, Loving Heart Active Ageing Centre, FabLab Singapore Polytechnic, NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Care) (Bukit Batok West), Millennia Institute and Decadance Co! 🎉🙏 We also want to extend our appreciation to the artists and performers behind this year’s creative collaborations, as well as our Friends of JurongHealth Campus volunteers who helped out on the opening day.
💫 Workshops, performances, and hands-on activities ran throughout the week—canvas art jamming, mindful mosaic-making, and even a self-portrait class led by a stroke survivor! Performances include a variety of music genres, familiar favourites and energetic beats, providing moments of relaxation, and inspiration to be enjoyed by all who visit. These moments of creativity, music, and healing were truly inspiring. 🎤🎨
On the evening of 20 September, the festival concluded with a beautiful concert featuring classical opera arias and familiar evergreen tunes. Led by veteran soprano Dr Wong Su Sun, her students and fellow singers delivered heartfelt performances for patients and caregivers. The concert also featured excerpts from “A Day A Lily”, a mini docu-opera portraying the journey of individuals living with dementia.
As we wrap up, don't miss the chance to explore the 5 public exhibitions on display until mid-November across NTFGH and JCH! 💛Learn more about the exhibitions here.
The Arts&Health concert series and Arts&Health Festival are made possible through the generous support of the JurongHealth Fund.
A big thank you to everyone who made this festival a success! We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store. 🌈
