Arts&Health Festival 2025: Play Well! 🎨🖌️

The ninth and final edition of the Arts&Health Festival, held from 15 to 19 September 2025 at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and Jurong Community Hospital (JCH), filled our campus with music, colour, and creativity.

This year’s theme — Play Well! — explored how play connects creativity, health and well-being. Supported by the JurongHealth Fund, the Festival brought together community partners, patients, volunteers, staff and artists in a shared celebration of healing through the arts.

🎶 Lunchtime Performances

Patients, visitors and staff were treated to a week of live lunchtime concerts at the NTFGH Link Bridge. The performances kicked off with award-winning singer-songwriter Morgan Law, followed by the heartwarming duo GBJJ (translated from Chinese: Sisters Next Door), and a lively showcase by young buskers from Princess Elizabeth Primary School.

Our very own colleagues also took to the stage, proving that healing hands can create magical harmonies too. The Festival wrapped up with the final lunchtime performance of Play Well!, featuring heartfelt music by our JHC staff. Throughout the week, the inspiring line-up of live acts — from local musicians to colleagues across different job groups — reminded us that healing extends beyond medicine, where creativity and compassion meet.

🎨 Art Exhibitions & Workshops

Beyond music, this year’s Festival introduced five new showcases featuring about 100 artworks co-created with patients and community partners. These works will remain on display until 01 November, before finding permanent homes in our wards and public spaces.

Hands-on workshops added to the festive spirit, inviting patients, visitors and staff to try their hand at creative activities such as silkscreen tote bag-making, “Mini Worlds of Play” dioramas, bear acrylic pouring, and a lunchtime K-pop dance workshop — bringing a burst of colour and fun to our hospital environment.

🤝 A Milestone Partnership

A highlight of this year’s Festival was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and the University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) — our first collaboration with an arts institution.

This partnership paves the way for artist-in-residence programmes, public health campaigns and special projects that will enliven our campus with art, enhancing well-being and patient care.

The Arts&Health Festival 2025 was a joyful reminder of how play, art and music can heal and inspire. It would not have been possible without the dedication of our community partners, artists, staff and volunteers, who gave their voices, talents and time to co-create meaningful experiences. Together, they transformed our campus into a space filled with creativity, connection and compassion.
