Charting Our Next Steps

On 15 May 2025, our Tower A Auditorium was filled with anticipation and team spirit as staff gathered for an inspiring CE Townhall led by Prof Yeoh Khay Guan. Speaking from the heart and with a clear sense of purpose, CE shared updates that not only informed, but inspired - reminding us of the shared journey and vision that unite NTFGH and the wider NUHS cluster.

A major highlight was the announcement of upcoming salary enhancements across the public healthcare clusters. In line with the Ministry of Health’s update earlier this year, Prof Yeoh provided a breakdown of the salary increases of up to 7% that will benefit 37,000 allied health professionals, pharmacists, and administrative, ancillary and support staff from 01 July 2025. This next wave of enhancements reaffirms our commitment to fair and competitive remuneration for all healthcare professionals.

CE also walked us through the FY25 NUHS Balanced Scorecard, which anchors our goals across five key pillars—Patient, People, Future, Sustainability and Transformation. These pillars shape the decisions we make, the care we deliver, and the innovations we pursue.

Across NUHS, updates from partner institutions showcased exciting developments. These included the ongoing push for preventive health through Healthier SG, NUH’s exciting Advanced Epic Personalisation Training to boost clinical efficiency, and their recent 40th Anniversary Dinner & Dance, which brought together nearly 4,000 staff and guests in celebration. Looking ahead, the upcoming Tengah General and Community Hospital—set to open in the early 2030s—signals the steady growth of our network and capability.

Turning to the drivers of change, CE addressed pressing challenges such as rising care costs, an ageing population, workforce pressures, and the growing metabolic epidemic. In response, four transformational shifts are underway—redesigning the healthcare workforce to enhance wellbeing and job roles, evolving our model of care towards prevention, leveraging technology and innovation to lighten workloads, and enabling systems that ease and support daily work.

FutureMap to NUHS 2030 was also unveiled, charting the signature initiatives that will bring our collective vision to life. From embracing digital as default to embedding wellbeing and empowerment in our culture, the roadmap is designed to ensure that every staff member is supported, valued, and given the space to innovate. Whether it’s redesigning roles, adopting AI tools like Medi-Voice and BOT-NUHS, or simply reducing unnecessary manual work, the focus is clear—improve how we work, so we can focus on what matters most.

CE also highlighted the NUHS Academic Health Programme, launched in 2023, which reinforces our dual mission of advancing health and building the Health System of the Future.

As the session drew to a close, CE expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and resilience of our staff. Echoing the aspirations outlined in his presentation, he reminded us that our efforts today are paving the way for a stronger, more innovative, and people-centred healthcare system—one that looks boldly to 2030 and beyond.
