Sharing & Sending Festive Love to our Community
JurongHealth Campus celebrated #Raya2023 in a cosy and heartwarming way this year! Our JHC family came together to share the festive love with our Muslim residents from our adopted rental block at Block 412 Hong Kah North. There were contributions of delicious and healthy festive cookies from a donation drive and the cookies were then hand-delivered by our staff to the different households!
The delivery team who volunteered after their work day or whilst on leave, gathered at the block to meet the Muslim residents who were returning home from their work or daily routine. Other than the cookies, the residents were also guided on eating healthily during the festive season. We saw many surprised and smiley faces as the residents were really delighted to receive the simple but thoughtful gift! A special shoutout to our Muslim colleagues who joined us for the distribution although they were fasting.

I joined the distribution because I feel that being a volunteer can bring meaning to our life, while increasing my self-esteem and well-being. Volunteering has a positive impact on our community and it can also improve our relationships with others!

I am a firm believer of "Paying It Forward". It definitely felt very motivating to partake in the contribution and distribution of the Raya cookies with like-minded colleagues, many of whom felt like family at the end of the distribution. The highlight for me was being recognised by one of my discharged patients from JCH, who warmly embraced our team's effort. As Irene Cara once sang, "What a Feeling" (from Flashdance)!
