The HHA is a continuing legacy of the Courage Awards that was first given to healthcare workers for their courageous fight against the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in Singapore. Subsequently, the HHA recognises inspirational role models who have taken the extra mile to offer care and comfort to those in need.
