❤️ A Safer and Caring Workplace – Because of You
Highlights from ISO 45001 Audit and the Inaugural WSH Awareness Day 2025

NTFGH & JCH Successfully Complete ISO 45001 External Audit for 2025
We are pleased to share that NTFGH and JCH have successfully completed the ISO 45001 External Audit for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (Acute and Community Hospitals), held from 3 to 6 November 2025. This marks our second year of certification, following our initial achievement in 2024.

We are proud to announce that there were no cases of non-conformity. The auditors also highlighted two positive observations, an improvement from last year’s single commendation.

🌟 Positive Outcomes
1. Strengthening Safety Culture at JHC
JHC continues to foster a culture of CARE through proactive safety initiatives. A key highlight is the inaugural Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Awareness Day, that took place on 26 November 2025. Themed as “We are Safer Because of You”, the event was designed to engage staff, increase awareness, and enhance knowledge of workplace safety through interactive booths and stations

Staff were invited to participate in games, quizzes, and exhibitions across seven themed stations, each focusing on a critical aspect of workplace safety and wellbeing:

  1. Injury Prevention through Prompt and Clear Communication
Learn how effective communication can prevent workplace injuries and promote a safer environment.

  2. Handling Chemicals with Care
Understand proper chemical handling procedures and safety protocols to reduce risks and ensure compliance.

  3. Defending Against Musculoskeletal Disorders
Explore ergonomic practices and preventive strategies to protect against common workplace-related physical strains.

  4. Fire Safety Tips
Discover essential fire safety knowledge, including evacuation procedures and hazard identification.

  5. Protecting Staff and Caring for Mental Wellbeing
Access resources and support for mental health and learn how to foster a psychologically safe workplace.

  6. Launch of the Online Permit-to-Work Process
Get familiar with the newly digitalised permit-to-work system, now accessible via both the intranet and internet websites, streamlining safety approvals and documentation.

  7. Staff Health & Wellness
Encourage proactive health practices such as vaccination uptake and regular health screenings, supporting overall staff wellbeing.

In addition, a joint initiative by Nursing and Group Hospitality was launched to enhance staff safety, including the nomination of departmental Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Advocates to lead safety efforts. Over 160 staff members also attended training sessions focused on the containment and management of abuse and aggressive incidents—reinforcing our commitment to staff protection.

2. Promoting Staff Wellbeing at Specialist Outpatient Clinic A54 – ENT (Head & Neck Surgery)
The clinic demonstrated a strong commitment to staff wellness through the appointment of Wellness Champions, whose roles include promoting wellbeing and sharing relevant resources. Staff engagement was further supported through activities such as a Wellness Talk on Workplace Efficacy (17 Oct), a Bukit Timah Nature Walk (16 Aug), and a “Let’s Bake It” workshop.

The Joy in Work initiative was also well received. Staff exchanged positive messages using cue cards, and a Kanban board was introduced to encourage feedback and suggestions. These efforts contribute to a more engaging, resilient, and collaborative workplace culture that supports quality patient care.

🙏 Thank You for Making Safety a Priority
We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all departments for their dedication and teamwork in achieving a successful audit outcome. The next surveillance audit will take place one year later, in October 2026 before the full ISO 45001 recertification in October 2027. Let’s continue to build a safer, healthier workplace together.
