Finding Calm Through the Lens 📸

Hello! I’m Tianqing, a Staff Nurse from the General Medicine ward, and I’ve been with JHC for over five years.
My days are often fast-paced and unpredictable — filled with responsibilities, critical situations, and moments that demand focus and resilience.

But after hours, I slow down, pick up my camera, and begin to notice the world differently.
I first became interested in photography simply because I wanted to capture beautiful moments. Over time, it became something more meaningful. Through a lens — even just my phone — I found a way to pause, observe, and appreciate the small details around me.

I’m especially drawn to nature — trees, sunlight, sunsets, open skies, and drifting clouds. Often, I discover these scenes unexpectedly, when I’m alone. I don’t go out looking for them — they simply appear in quiet, ordinary moments. When they do, I stop and capture them. Later, I share them with friends and family, reliving the calm and beauty together.
Photography helps me step away from the intensity of work. It allows me to lose myself in the scenery, even for a few minutes. In those moments, the noise fades. My mind clears. I breathe a little slower.

I may not always capture the “perfect” photo, but I’m proud that I notice these moments at all. Photography has taught me that beauty doesn’t disappear just because life is busy — we just need to look up and see it.
As I grow older, these photographs become more than images. They become memories I can return to — reminders that even in demanding seasons of life, there were beautiful sunsets, quiet skies, and moments of peace.

To anyone feeling overwhelmed, my advice is simple: after work, take a walk. Slow down. Look at the trees. Notice the light. Capture something that makes you pause. Sometimes, healing doesn’t come from doing more — it comes from seeing more.
