Staying Safe: Data Protection & Cyber Vigilance
COO Ng Bee Ling highlighted a timely reminder on the importance of safeguarding our patients’ information. In an increasingly digital healthcare environment, protecting data is everyone’s responsibility.

Key points shared:
-
Patient data access must be purposeful and authorised – only access what you need for your role.
-
Unauthorised access carries serious consequences – breaches can harm patients, staff and the entire campus.
-
Scam messages are on the rise – remain vigilant and verify any suspicious communications.
Our shared target remains clear: zero data breaches. By staying alert and following best practices, we can protect our patients, maintain trust, and strengthen the integrity of our digital healthcare systems.
Remember: safeguarding data is not just policy — it’s part of our care.
Innovation in Action
Presented by Chan Shi Teng (Senior Staff Nurse, Perioperative, NTFGH), she highlighted how perioperative areas faced long-standing challenges — most consumables were unique to each department, stock levels were difficult to track, expiry dates were monitored manually, and nearly 400 nursing hours (across different departments) per week were spent managing inventory.

To address this, the team rolled out InV-Sys, a smart inventory management solution that streamlines processes and frees staff to focus on patient care.

Innovation at JHC doesn’t stop here. Virtual Rehab and AISay, presented by Asst Prof Elvina Tay (Consultant, Post-Acute & Continuing Care, JCH), Pamela Oh (Senior Speech Therapist, NTFGH), and Koh Hui An (Principal Physiotherapist, NTFGH), introduce digitalisation and AI to help healthcare evolve.

By enabling patients to carry out rehabilitation independently at home—supported by activity-tracking, AI-driven feedback, and progress monitoring—these solutions address challenges such as limited therapy slots, high patient load, and the need for frequent in-person visits, while reducing hospital visits and improving efficiency for staff.
Benefits:

Our staff were also encouraged and inspired to embrace digitalisation and AI, as we continue to work towards a smarter, more efficient JHC for the future.

We wrapped up the session with a Q&A segment, where staff raised important feedback on:
-
Training Budget – exploring ways to provide equitable access to professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
-
Term Contracts – improving visibility and ease of access to active contracts for authorised users.
-
Management of Contracts – ensuring timely renewals to prevent procurement delays and creating a smoother, closed-loop process.
These discussions highlight our shared commitment in supporting staff growth, improving processes, and enabling a more efficient workplace.
