Man of the Moment:
Deputy Chief Executive
Foo Hee Jug
On 20 June 2025, JurongHealth Campus (JHC) came together for a very special reason: to celebrate the one and only Mr Foo Hee Jug—Deputy Chief Executive of National University Health System (NUHS) and the founding CEO of JHC.
The evening, held at the JHC Auditorium, was more than just a farewell. It was a tribute to a man who led with vision, humility, and genuine heart—and whose impact continues to ripple across our entire healthcare family.
Hosted by Casey Chang (Group Chief Communications Officer) with special co-hosts Kimberly Yap and Eileen Ng—both of whom had worked closely with Mr Foo—the event felt personal, familiar, and often hilariously candid.

The evening opened with a warm tribute from Prof Yeoh Khay Guan, NUHS Chief Executive, who shared how Mr Foo’s leadership shaped not just systems and strategies, but also people and relationships.
Then came the showstopper: a tribute video titled “Who is the Real Foo Hee Jug?” that had everything—heartfelt memories, iconic leadership moments, and even Mr Foo dressed as Bruce Lee and Superman. 🥋🦸♂️
And just when emotions were peaking, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong made a surprise appearance with a message that truly touched the room. 💖

The Boh Talent Singers (BTS)—a talented group of NUHS colleagues—delivered two unforgettable performances: 朋友 by Wakin Chau and I'll Be There For You (yup, from Friends sitcom!). 🎤 Their voices echoed the very spirit Mr Foo has championed: friendship, fun, and shared purpose.

As the tributes rolled on, the audience laughed, teared up, and reminisced. From funny D&D stories (like that Seoul trip lucky draw!) to sincere reflections on his leadership, the love for Mr Foo was loud and clear.
Then came three meaningful gifts:
-
✒️ A traditional calligraphy set from NUHS reading 马到功成—wishing him success in all future journeys.
-
🎨 A serene painting titled 淡定 by Adj Prof Khoo See Meng, Chairman, Medical Board of Alexandra Hospital, featuring a calm cat alongside the seed pod of the Buddha coconut tree—symbolising grace under pressure.
-
🌳 A Jelutong tree from JHC — a living tribute to his quiet strength and pioneering spirit. It came adorned with handwritten thank-you notes from staff. 📝❤️

In his closing address, Mr Foo reflected on his journey with grace and humour, thanking those he's walked with along the way, and the mission he continues to uphold. True to form, he signed off with a memorable line from The Terminator—“I’ll be back.” Cue: thunderous applause, wide smiles, and maybe a few misty eyes.
The celebrations continued at the Foyer, complete with life-sized Mr Foo cut-outs and a spread of his favourite eats—chicken rice, mee siam, and muah chee, all lovingly prepared by JHC’s very own Food Service team.

As Mr Foo prepares to begin his new role as Chief Executive of Synapxe starting 01 August 2025, we thank him for the legacy he leaves behind and the community he built at JHC and NUHS.
We’re cheering you on in your next chapter, Mr Foo—and yes, we’ll be here when you come back. 😉
