This year’s National Day Observance Ceremony (NDOC) for our NUHS cluster was hosted at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) for the first time, celebrating Singapore’s 59th National Day.
The theme of this year’s celebration, 'One United People,' strongly resonates with our commitment to unity, as demonstrated by celebrating this year’s NDP together as OneNUHS with the other institutions

The ceremony began with a heartwarming performance by the Learning Vision @NTF students, who danced enthusiastically to this year’s National Day song "Never Alone." Their energy and joy set the perfect tone for the celebration, that anything is possible if done together.
Reflections from Our Leaders
NUHS Chief Executive, Prof Yeoh Khay Guan, opened the event with a warm welcome address, highlighting the choices that have brought us together with a shared purpose in healthcare. He spoke of our collective responsibility in caring for patients and building health systems that will meet the needs of the future. Professor Yeoh also reminded us of the importance of paying it forward to ensure a healthier future for future generations.
Minister of Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung, offered a broader perspective, reflecting on the global challenges healthcare systems face. He referenced issues such as strikes in the UK and South Korea, contrasting them with the solidarity we experience here in Singapore. Min Ong emphasised the importance of having the right strategy to attract foreign investments, increase wages, and create more jobs. He outlined our healthcare strategy, which includes building more hospitals, leveraging the latest technology, reducing system inefficiencies, and promoting a healthier population through initiatives like Healthier SG. We can all have faith in a better future with the right strategy.
President of NTUC & HSEU, Sister K Thanaletchmi, concluded the ceremony with an inspiring message on the power of tripartism—government, employers, and workers collaborating for a common goal. She emphasised that our progress is due to hard work, not chance, and reassured workers that NTUC will support them through digitalisation with mentoring, lifelong learning, and upskilling.
We are particularly honoured that NTFGH was selected to host this year’s event; it was our privilege to continue this meaningful tradition. With the help of the following departments; Group Communications, Group & JurongHealth Campus (JHC) Human Resource, JHC Security Team, JHC General Services, JHC Kitchen, Emcee Hanis Khan (Senior Service Associate, Lobby & Visiting Management and representing Union) & Ita Coffey (Principal Physiotherapist, Physiotherapy), HSEU and the wonderful performers from Learning Vision @ NTF, NDOC was a huge success.
As we commemorate this National Day, let us continue to embody the spirit of unity and collaboration, working together to build a brighter, healthier future for all.
