We are thrilled to announce that not one, but two of our groundbreaking projects have been recognised with the National Healthcare Innovation & Productivity (HIP) Medals this year!

This incredible achievement truly reflects our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries and making a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape through innovation and efficiency.

Automated Code Red Alerts (ACRA) and ICU Outreach Nursing (ICUORN) Service

The Automated Code Red Alerts (ACRA) and ICU Outreach Nursing (ICUORN) Service, received the Best Practice Medal in the category of Automation, IT & Robotics Innovation. This project embodies a transformative approach to patient care in the general ward by utilising advanced technology and strategic job redesign.

The ACRA system is an automated early recognition and alert triggering system designed to identify patients at risk of deterioration. By leveraging sophisticated algorithms and real-time data, ACRA ensures that timely alerts are sent to senior clinicians, enabling swift and appropriate medical intervention. This innovation significantly enhances patient safety and outcomes, reducing the likelihood of critical incidents in the general ward.

In tandem with the ACRA system, the ICUORN Service represents a job redesign initiative aimed at upskilling ICU nurses. These highly trained nurses now provide critical expert support to acutely ill patients in the general ward, bridging the gap between intensive and general care. This initiative not only improves patient outcomes but also fosters professional growth and development among nursing staff.

Vertical Integration of Hardware and Software Automation in Pharmacy (VIP)

The Vertical Integration of Hardware and Software Automation in Pharmacy (VIP) was awarded the Best Practice Medal in Workforce Transformation. This initiative is a testament to the power of technological integration and its potential to revolutionise healthcare operations.

The VIP project focuses on the vertical integration of hardware and software automation capabilities within NTFGH’s Outpatient Pharmacy. By adopting cutting-edge technology and data visualisation tools, the project aims to streamline pharmacy operations, enhance efficiency, and foster a culture of innovation. The result is a more responsive and effective pharmacy service that better meets the needs of patients.

One of the most significant outcomes of the VIP initiative is the transformation of the pharmacy workforce. Pharmacy staff are now deployed to perform high-value tasks, such as identifying core skills related to software automation, troubleshooting, and project management. This shift not only maximises the use of technology but also empowers staff to take on more complex and rewarding roles, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the pharmacy.

The annual event is organised by the Centre for Healthcare Innovation and supported by the Ministry of Health, Singapore, and the Ng Teng Fong Healthcare Innovation Programme. These awards recognise outstanding achievements in healthcare innovation, efficiency, and productivity, setting benchmarks for excellence in the industry.
