Joy in Every Moment, Care in Every Touch 💖
Some moments in healthcare are life-changing. Others are quiet acts of kindness that leave a lasting impression. Together, they tell the story of nursing. Nurses' Day 2026, held on 31 July, celebrated these moments with a day of appreciation, recognition and joy, honouring the compassion, dedication and professionalism our nurses bring to every patient, caregiver and colleague.
The celebrations began in the morning at Tower B, Level 2, Kampong, where nurses enjoyed a range of interactive activities, including an egg terrarium workshop, personalised scent bar and AI transformation photo booth. Recognising that many nurses remained on duty caring for patients, specially prepared lunch bentos were catered for colleagues who were unable to join the festivities. As the day drew to a close, dinner bentos were also distributed to nurses reporting for the night shift, ensuring the appreciation extended across every shift.
In the weeks leading up to Nurses' Day, staff across JHC also filled the Heritage Wall panels with heartfelt messages of appreciation. The wall panels served as a meaningful tribute to the dedication, compassion and professionalism of our nursing community.
The main programme at the Auditorium welcomed invited guests, including Mr Foo Hee Jug, JHC’s founding CEO, and Prof Benjamin Ong, Chairman of the JurongHealth Fund Board, as well as senior leaders.
In his opening speech, A/Prof Dan Yock Young, CEO, NTFGH & JCH, reflected that while patients may not always remember every detail of their healthcare journey, they will always remember the reassurance, comfort and compassion shown by their nurses. These moments may appear small, but they often leave a lasting impact on patients and their families.
He also recognised the evolving role of nurses, whose contributions now extend far beyond bedside care - from supporting patients in the community and coordinating care across different settings, to advancing palliative and end-of-life care, and harnessing digital technologies to transform and future-proof nursing practice.
The celebration also acknowledged the achievements of JHC nurses on the national and cluster stages. Seven nurses received the Nurses’ Merit Award in recognition of their exceptional performance and contributions to the nursing profession. A record 40 JHC nurses, comprising five from JCH and 35 from NTFGH, also received the NUHS Nightingale Award for being exemplary role models who have made significant contributions to patient care.
Following the screening of a special Nurses’ Day video, Chief Nurse, Ms Ng Sow Chun, shared how nurses bring hope where there is fear, and strength where there is uncertainty, delivering care through not only their clinical expertise, but also through their presence, reassurance and humanity.
She highlighted that nurses are caregivers, educators, advocates, innovators and leaders who are ever learning and adapting to meet evolving care needs. Looking ahead, she encouraged nurses to continue supporting one another, strengthening their collective voice and leading the transformation of care together.
ADoN Patricia Leong then led JHC nurses in reciting the Nurses’ Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to providing safe, compassionate and professional care.
Creativity and continuous improvement took centre stage during the I.D.E.A. Board Competition, with I.D.E.A. representing I Develop, Execute, Achieve. The initiative provides nursing teams with a structured approach to improving their daily work processes and patient care.
Each participating ward and unit showcased its quality improvement initiatives, patient care indicators and progress. The submissions were evaluated across clinical performance, innovation, joy in work, people and culture, and overall presentation.
Isolation Ward emerged as Champion with its “One Team, One Galaxy” presentation, which showcased strong clinical performance, innovation and teamwork. A41 Eye Clinic was named First Runner-Up for “Captain America”, while Ward B14 Subsidised received the Second Runner-Up award for “Space Station”.
Another 29 teams were recognised through the Recognition, Good Effort and Consolation Awards, celebrating the ideas, effort and contributions of nursing teams across JHC.
The Auditorium erupted in cheers when colleagues from the Communications & Community Relations Division stepped into the spotlight for a surprise dance performance to BLACKPINK’s “JUMP”. A/Prof Dan Yock Young, CEO, NTFGH & JCH; Clin A/Prof Low Shiong Wen, CMB; and Adj Asst Prof Kelvin Koh, MD, JCH, also gamely joined the performers on stage, making the item an especially memorable highlight of the celebration.
The energy continued with a short dance segment to ATEEZ’s “BAD”, featuring five nursing leaders who had won the Best Dressed title at the NUHS Nurses’ Day Celebration: DDoN Fauziah Jabil, ADoN Patricia Leong, ADoN Angela Lim, ADoN Brigitte Woo and ADoN Nancy Yeo.
The programme concluded with leaders, performers and the audience dancing together, ending the Auditorium celebration on a high.
The celebrations continued at the Auditorium Foyer and JurongHealth Academy, where nurses took time to unwind, connect and enjoy a range of activities, including live food stations, back and shoulder massages, caricature drawings, a ring toss challenge and the AI transformation photo booth.

More than a celebration, Nurses' Day 2026 was a heartfelt tribute to the people who bring comfort, confidence and compassion to every patient encounter. Through every story shared, recognition bestowed and smile exchanged, the day celebrated the extraordinary impact our nurses make - one caring touch at a time.
