Quality Month Opening Event 2023
The annual Quality Month 2023 Opening Event took place on Friday, 20 October. This marked the first physical celebration at our auditorium since 2019. The theme for this year’s Quality Month was “Right Care Right, First Time, Every Time”. The theme was selected to remind us that in carrying out our daily duties, we must be mindful to deliver the best care and treatment for our patients.
As part of pledging our commitment to “Right Care Right”, a series of pre-event activities were organised for staff to enjoy in the lead up to the opening event in October. This included: the Sand Art Activity: Statement of ‘Right Care Right’, and the Play-to-Win Street Challenge Season II.

At the Opening Event, the co-chairs of Quality Month 2023, Adj Asst Prof Alvin Ong, Head, Post Acute and Continuing Care (PACC), JCH, and Ms Qiu Wenjing, Head, Physiotherapy, JCH, commended on the efforts of the 63 project teams for their participation in the Best Quality Improvement (QI) Project submissions, and encouraged staff to proactively think about the journey towards achieving “Right Care Right” at work, and the possibilities of how we can develop a better work flow.

Our CEO, Dr Quek Lit Sin, shared that this year’s theme was in line with JurongHealth’s zero harm statement of “We deliver the right care right – the first time, every time, for every patient and family member”. This statement showcased our leaders’ commitment to building a high reliability healthcare organisation. Everyone’s actions and approach in their daily duties has an impact towards achieving zero harm and better patient care at our hospital.
Dr Kathryn Leonhardt, our guest speaker from the Joint Commission International, shared her wealth of experience in patient safety, clinical quality and patient experience. She shared her valuable insights on what a “high reliability organisation” entails in the healthcare industry, and how ‘we’ as an organisation can work towards achieving that, as well as what “Right Care Right” means to us as individuals.

We would also like to congratulate the top 10 project teams (includes the 5 merit award recipients, and the 5 winning QI project teams) for their amazing efforts and contributions towards quality improvement. There was also a lively carnival held at the auditorium foyer area, with a whole slew of interactive booths and games, and a buffet lunch with exciting live food stations, set up by our internal departments and external vendors.
We are also pleased to share that there were 394 attendees at the Opening Event, and 217 attendees at the QI Project Sharing session!

Kudos to our members of the Quality Month Organising Committee (QMOC) for their extensive efforts on making the Quality Month Opening Event a big success!
