Safety First: Shedding Light on Radiation and MRI Risks

On 19 November 2024, 199 staff members gathered at the Auditorium for the Radiation and MRI Safety Workplace Talk, an event organised by the Radiology Department and the Radiation MRI Safety Committee in conjunction with World Radiography Day. The talk aimed to raise awareness about the potential hazards of radiation and MRI equipment while highlighting the critical importance of workplace safety.

The session offered valuable insights into key principles and best practices for minimising risks. It emphasised the importance of adhering to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment for everyone.

The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, including 139 nurses, 43 allied health professionals, and 17 administrative and support staff, underscoring our institution's commitment to fostering a culture of safety across all roles.

By equipping staff with practical knowledge and effective strategies to manage potential hazards, the talk reinforced our shared responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
