Interventional Radiology Suite Re-opens with Nexaris Angio CT

Uninterrupted care, strengthened collaboration and cutting-edge technology redefine interventional radiology at JHC

JurongHealth Campus has successfully re-opened its Interventional Radiology (IR) Suite, marking a major milestone with the installation of Nexaris Angio Computed Tomagraphy (CT) with Icono Ceiling. The re-opening represents not just a technology upgrade, but also an exceptional example of teamwork and resilience across the hospitals.

Care Continued Without Disruption

In May 2025, the IR Suite underwent extensive renovation works. Despite the renovation period extending until December 2025, patients requiring urgent and complex IR procedures continued to receive timely care. Through close collaboration, the Radiology Department worked with the Operating Theatre Department and the Cardiovascular Laboratory to manage IR cases within the hospitals. This ensured that patients did not need to be transferred to other hospitals during the prolonged downtime.

Through careful planning and strong interdepartmental support, there was no impact on patient care, with all critical IR services delivered safely and seamlessly throughout the renovation period.

A Momentous Re-opening

The official re-opening ceremony was held on 13 January 2025 at the IR Suite (Tower B, Level 1), attended by senior leadership and key stakeholders. CEO A/Prof Dan Yock Young delivered the opening address, following welcome remarks by Radiology Head Dr Bernard Wee. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Chairman, Medical Board A/Prof Low Shiong Wen and COO Ms Ng Bee Ling, together with representatives from Siemens Singapore, marked this important milestone.

Guests also participated in guided tours and live system demonstrations conducted by the Radiology team and Siemens specialists.

New Technology, Better Patient Experience

The newly installed Nexaris Angio CT with Icono Ceiling brings CT scanning and angiography together in a single system—reducing patient movement between machines and streamlining workflows. The result: greater efficiency, improved comfort, and enhanced patient safety.

Quick peek at the key features:

  • High-quality imaging with lower radiation exposure

  • Rapid image acquisition, critical for trauma and stroke care

  • Advanced 3D imaging to support precise treatment planning

  • A patient-friendly design, with a wider opening and higher table weight capacity

Revolutionary Technology for Enhanced Patient Care

At the heart of the re-opened IR Suite is the Nexaris Angio CT with Icono Ceiling—a next-generation system that combines CT scanning and angiography in one space. By removing the need to move patients between machines, it streamlines workflows while improving comfort and safety.

Advanced Imaging Capabilities

Powered by OPTIQ technology, the system delivers high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure for patients and staff. Its advanced 3D imaging provides clear, real-time views of blood vessels and flow patterns, supporting complex procedures such as tumour embolisation by automatically identifying feeding vessels for more precise treatment.

Patient-Centred Design

Designed for comfort and inclusivity, the system accommodates a wide range of patients while giving clinicians greater flexibility during procedures.

Clinical Efficiency and Speed

Fast image acquisition enables quicker, more accurate procedures—especially for trauma patients—while reducing contrast use and patient discomfort.

Transforming Healthcare Delivery
The re-opened IR Suite strengthens NTFGH’s interventional radiology capabilities, supporting complex procedures and shared clinical use across teams.

This milestone was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of multiple teams:

including Radiology, CIFO and Facilities Management, Biomedical Engineering as well as supporting departments Operating Theatre Department and Cardiovascular Laboratory during the 5-month downtime of IR.

Looking Ahead

The re-opening of the Interventional Radiology Suite is more than a return to space—it reflects NTFGH’s commitment to innovation, resilience, and teamwork, with patient care always at the centre.

As teams fully leverage the Nexaris Angio CT with Icono Ceiling, patients will benefit from more accurate diagnoses, safer procedures, and better outcomes. This milestone marks another step forward in NTFGH’s ongoing journey to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for the community.
