Sole Mates on the Move

On 04 June 2025, our campus came alive with good vibes, comfy shoes, and plenty of movement thanks to the Health Promoting Hospital (HPH) Running Club’s two-part event – a Foot Fair by day and an evening run at Jurong Lake Gardens.
👟 Kicking off with the Foot Fair...
As both the HPH Running Club lead and a dedicated podiatrist, Charlotte Lee (Podiatrist, Podiatry, NTFGH) took the initiative to share practical tips on proper footwear and injury prevention at the Foot Fair, held at Kampung, Tower B Level 2 during lunch time. Drawing on her professional expertise and passion for running, she engaged staff in meaningful conversations about the importance of taking care of their feet—whether they’re casual walkers or regular runners.
To sweeten the deal, she teamed up with Brooks Running to bring us a special 25% staff discount on running shoes. Safe to say – it was a hit!
🌳 Then came the run...
At 6.30pm, around 40 enthusiastic runners laced up and gathered at Jurong Lake Gardens for a breezy evening run. Participants came from various departments – including nurses from ED, podiatrists, medical social workers, occupational therapy assistants, pharmacists and more. The shared goal? To stay active, foster connections, and simply enjoy the run together!

Post-run? Tasty snacks, refreshing drinks, a lucky draw, and a whole lot of smiles. 💪
🎉 Big congrats to Beverly Patacsil (Senior Staff Nurse, Kidney Unit, NTFGH) who won herself a brand-new pair of Brooks Ghost Max 2 (in pink, no less!).

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, Charlotte and the HPH Running Club have built a space where everyone’s welcome. Here’s what some of our participants had to say:
04 June is Global Running Day! Today coincides with HPH Running Club fortnightly run as well! The run was made extra meaningful today because we have more who joined us 🥰 2 of my staff joined me too! Hope to continue seeing everyone in our future fortnightly run :)) Lets keep fit together 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Huge shoutout to Charlotte and team for putting this together so thoughtfully!☺️☺️ Thank you!!!
– Neo Li Ling (Nurse Manager, Nursing Wards, NTFGH)

Such a wonderful way to restart running after a long break! Charlotte and the HPH Run Club were such an inspiration, along with our podiatry friends who led by example. And we had so many sisters and brothers from NTFGH too! Getting my new Brooks shoes that day felt like a foot-changing decision ❤️ More running adventures ahead!
– Serene Lee (Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy, JCH)

Thank you Charlotte and team for organising such a slick and motivating event on Global Running Day. You got me back on the road again! Partnering with Brooks was a great idea, and the drinks and snacks after the run were much appreciated. It was a great turnout with fantastic people from across the hospital. Can’t wait for the next one!
– Nicolas Mcindoe (Head, Podiatry, NTFGH)

These enthusiastic messages truly capture the spirit Charlotte envisioned when she first formed the group. By bringing colleagues together—regardless of experience or pace—she set the tone for a supportive, inclusive community. In her words:
I started this running group to meet others who share the same passion. I also wanted to inspire more people to get moving. Whether you’re fast or just starting out, there’s always this group to turn to. It’s a fun way to stay active and feel connected on campus. I hope more colleagues will join us for our biweekly runs — everyone’s welcome, at every pace!
– Charlotte Lee, HPH Running Club Lead

✨ Whether you jog, run, or walk — here’s your sign to get involved, stay active, and build meaningful connections while you're at it. See you at the next run!
