JHConnext Brings Transformation and Kindness to Life @ JHC

More than a townhall, the latest JHConnext on 26 May brought colleagues across JurongHealth Campus together for a meaningful afternoon of conversations on transformation, the future of healthcare and the values that continue to shape our campus culture.

Held in a hybrid format, the session welcomed staff onsite and online, bringing colleagues together across the campus to hear leadership updates, reflect on how healthcare is evolving and celebrate the people and values that shape our daily work.

CEO A/Prof Dan Yock Young shared perspectives on the evolving healthcare landscape and how JurongHealth Campus continues to transform care delivery to meet future needs while staying grounded in what matters most — caring for patients and supporting one another.

A highlight of the afternoon was a sharing by Dr Jason Phua, Deputy Chief Executive (Clinical Transformation), NUHS, who shared insights on My Role as a Healthcare Worker and the importance of preparing ourselves for the healthcare workforce of the future. His sharing encouraged staff to reflect on how our roles are evolving alongside changing patient needs, new technologies and new models of care.

Staff also got a closer look at what transformation looks like in our hospitals through the "Future Model of Inpatient Care" video, followed by updates on how transformation efforts are taking shape across JHC.

The spotlight then turned to colleagues across campus who shared how transformative initiatives such as Inpatient Virtual Operation Centre (iVOC), Electronic Permit-to-work (ePTW), Automated Audiometry Service and the CARED AI Tool are reducing manual work, improving workflows and creating more time for patient care, colleagues and self-care.

Building on this, Dr Colin Ong, Senior Consultant from Emergency Medicine, introduced CARED 2.0 and demonstrated how the enhanced AI-powered tool supports frontline teams by reducing repetitive administrative work, allowing staff to focus more on patient care and team support.

The townhall also marked the launch of “Be Back in 20”, a new campus-wide Viva Engage campaign encouraging staff to share how they are transforming their work, saving time and using those moments to support their wellbeing.

During the Q&A segment, staff actively submitted questions and shared thoughts with senior leaders, reinforcing a culture of open dialogue and shared ownership in JHC’s transformation journey.

The afternoon then shifted to another important part of campus life — kindness and compassion.
As part of Kindness@Work and Singapore Kindness Month, colleagues came together over the past week through giving initiatives for needy patients and seniors from SASCO Home, blood donations and our very first Kind Koala Awards.

Close to 400 staff took part in recognising colleagues who embody the KOALA values — Kind words, Offer help, Appreciate, Listen and Act with care — bringing many heartfelt stories of appreciation to life across campus.

As the session drew to a close, staff were invited to continue the momentum by visiting the Kindness Wall to leave notes of appreciation for one another.

From transformation and innovation to kindness and compassion, the latest JHConnext was a timely reminder that while healthcare continues to evolve, the heart of our work remains the same — supporting one another as one campus while building the future of care together.
